Prepared for Keri Allard + Jennifer Kratochwill
AHA Fundraiser
Overview
Jennifer and Kelley Kochendorfer (Baird) will be hosting an event at JG Development benefitting Keri’s fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association.
Time + Date
Thursday, April 10
1 to 6 PM
Location
JG Development offices
Madison
Background
Keri will be the special guest bartender for the event, which will follow an open house format with guests coming and going throughout the afternoon. There will be signature Masters-inspired food and a special themed drink. It could be a great opportunity to capture some candid moments and put together a short montage to highlight the atmosphere and energy of the day.
Concepts and Examples
Below you will find a few ideas to consider. I broke them down into three categories: Keri’s Campaign, JG Development, and the AHA. If I need to add other groups or causes, I’m certainly happy to do so.
Keri's Campaign
We could do a video update or recap with Keri either behind the bar or in a quieter space at the event, talking about the progress of her AHA campaign. This could include thanking people who contributed to it, talking about the experience overall, encouraging others to get involved–whatever might be important for people to know. I could build animated graphs or bar charts ahead of time that we could update on the day and incorporate to reflect current numbers, or even wait to include how much was raised on the day of the event.
Below are some examples of interview-driven videos, some with footage added into them.
JG Development
While at the event, we can certainly capture footage of the food, fun, and overall atmosphere. Whenever possible, event highlights are more impactful when they include personal elements—people sharing their thoughts or experiences can add valuable context and emotional depth to what we’re seeing, which helps boost engagement and impact.
Some ideas to consider (these can be mixed and matched as well):
- Having a spokesperson(s) talk about how the event came together, the cause, and why it is so important
- Show multiple people on-camera talking about the event to convey a sense of community behind the efforts, with highlights from the event happening on-screen throughout.
- Finding attendees to talk about why supporting the AHA is important to them
- Presenting facts about the work the AHA does, or asking people trivia questions about heart-related issues that might be surprising or important for people to know
- A short conversation with Keri, Jennifer, and Kelley about coming together to support a cause that affects nearly everyone, either directly or indirectly
- Fun content, like showing how to make the signature drink so that people can recreate it at home
Below is a video recap I put together a couple of years ago after visiting a manufacturing facility in Maine. You can see how having people talking about the day helps to make the highlights more impactful.
American Heart Association
We can combine elements of the concepts above to put together something for the AHA from the footage we get. Some additional things to consider:
- We might want to capture some AHA-specific content from Keri and Jennifer, talking about the mission and how rewarding it is to be a part of it
- Are there important facts and figures, especially local ones, that we could turn into animated motion graphics-style pieces to incorporate?
- Is there unique information about how to get involved with the AHA that you might be able to offer people?
Below are a couple of examples of motion graphics explainer-style content.
Questions
Below are a few questions that might help in the planning:
- Where would you like to use the content? (Social Media platforms, websites, etc.)
- Do you have specific goals for the content? (help with fundraising, raise awareness for the cause, promote future events, etc.)
- Is there an itinerary for the day, or is it mostly just an open-house format?
- Are there specific guests that you would like to capture content with? If so, will someone be around to help make introductions?
- Are there any other important elements you would like me to be mindful of in terms of trying to capture?
